Bloomsburg Falls to Philadelphia University in Lacrosse
PHILADELPHIA--The Bloomsburg University lacrosse team lost to Philadelphia University, 9-7, in a non-conference game Sunday afternoon. The Huskies opened a 2-0 lead in the first 13 minutes of play on goals by Brittany Lucchesi (Ambler/Wissahickon) and Ashley Childs (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West). However, the Rams rallied and scored the next five goals of the game to open a 5-2 lead. Bloomsburg got one goal back just before halftime when Sam Alexander scored unassisted with 58 seconds to play to make it a 5-3 game at the break. Philadelphia opened the second half of action with a goal in the first 45 seconds of play before the Huskies got back-to-back goals from Alexander and Megan Taylor (West Chester/West Chester) to make it a 6-5 game with 24 minutes left to play. After the Rams extended the lead back to three goals, 8-5, Lucchesi scored again for the Huskies to make it 8-6 with eight minutes to play in the game. After Philadelphia scored to make it 9-6 at the 55:11 mark, the Huskies got their final goal of the game 20 seconds later from Alexander to make the final, 9-7. Bloomsburg, now 1-3, goalie Justine Coleman (Media/Penncrest) had 13 saves in the game, while Alex Totino (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Sachem) had three caused turnovers.
